Booking Through Thursday...Library

Suggested by Barbara:
I saw that National Library week is coming up in April, and that led to some questions. How often do you use your public library and how do you use it? Has the coffeehouse/bookstore replaced the library? Did you go to the library as a child? Do you have any particular memories of the library? Do you like sleek, modern, active libraries or the older, darker, quiet, cozy libraries?

I have to admit, I've only been in our local library a handful of times. It's a small library and doesn't have many of the newer titles that I'm looking for. My hubby also teases me that I have more books than the library does.

When I was younger I loved going to the library. We lived in a different town and they library was much bigger. Dad would often take us on the weekends and I loved being able to wander through the sections and see what treasure I would stumble upon. Sometimes I was looking for a particular book, but I often wound up with whatever book caught my eye that day.

What is your library like?

I actually don't spend much time in the library. I do most of my ordering online and then pick the books up on Saturday from my local library. They have a great selection because I can borrow a book from any library in the state.

I had to chuckle at what your hubby says. One of my friends likes to say that one of these days she's going to stop by my house and "check out" a book from my library. I told her if she did it while I was out, I'd probably never even know!

I was such a magnet to libraries when I was young. I still remembered that sensation of getting my library card---that felt so privileged and special!

When I became old enough that my parents could entrust me to be on my own, I perfer to stay longer, browsing all the aisles and finding treasures! :)

I love reading my own books at the library these days! :) That said, I'm justified to visit my favorite bookstores almost everyday!

My husband teases me too about the amount of books I have here as compared to the library.

I have wonderful memories from my childhood of my library visits. It was like a second home for me. Like you though, I don't often visit the library nowadays. I have quite a library all my own.
