Mariel suggested this week’s question
Book Gluttony! Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?
I am hoarder of unread books! I probably have enough books in my house to last me about 8 years if I didn't acquire anymore in the meantime, which would never happen. Right now my TBR tag on LT has 686 books in it, but that doesn't include most of the books I've received from Paperback Swap or for review. I have 3 bookshelves full of unread books. Once I've read a book I usually give it away, but I have a hard time parting with books that I haven't read yet.
Paperback Swap and Bookmooch have greatly increased my book habit in the 3 years I've been members of those sites. They both make it so easy for new books to show up at my door that I just can't resist. Another contributor to my huge pile of unread books are FOL sales. I can't love cheap books!
Is your TBR pile out of control?

I'm with you girl!
Here is mine Gluttony
686 wow, I think you have me beat! I haven't signed up for Bookmooch because then I would be lost! Thanks for visiting me and Happy BTT!
Yes my TBR is out of control and I'm ok with it :)
But I turned to Ebooks for the convenience of space!
686 is very impressive. I've had to resist my burning desire to get on PaperbackSwap or BookMooch because my TBR is already out of control.
PBS is the best! I love it when I get a new book in the mail. I have a hard time parting with books I haven't read either but if the book has been sitting unread for several years, I will get rid of it.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I'm lucky that our library has a good selection of both old and new, and we have a terrific inter-library loan system. i love browsing bookstores though. Our favorite date night is dinner and the bookstore. We never leave empty-handed!
686 is alot and I thought I had it bad :) Way to own your glutton girl :)
That is impressive. I was going to take a photo of my TBR pile this weekend to see how big it is. I thought this was a great question.
Woo-hoo - Solidarity sister! Book-a-holics Unite! I can think of worse things to spend money on...
Bookmooch has increased my TBR pile exponentially. I swap more books than I would ever buy. But how can you say no, right? :-)
Love my books too! Hoarder is a good word to describe my condition. Sad, but as mentioned above, there are worse things to spend money on. Happy BTT!
Which is why I have to avoid Paperback Swap and Bookmooch!! Enjoy your books.
I believe every book has its moment with an individual reader, and that is why I have to keep buying them in case I have a whim for that particular book.
Proud to be a glutton, but I try not to buy. I grab the ones that I'm most desperate to read and leave the rest on a list.
I thought I was bad...but you've got me beat!
Now I feel better; I'm still in the 500's range LOL
I'm really conservitive about making sure I read what I buy, exept in the case of my bookstores $5 hardcover section. I flip through it every few weeks and buy a couple, some are good, some are awful, but I have a few sitting around since forever.
I'm with you. Who can have too many books (or shoes)?
There's no such thing as too many books :)
Great way to go, Mellissa! Keep adding to it!
Book gluttons, are we?
Wow! I've finally met someone who beats me in the Size of Mt. TBR Olympics! I knew I liked you, Melissa!
You sound a lot like me. My husband keeps telling me that there is going to be a rule: 1 book in, 1 book out. We haven't gotten there yet. Let's hope we never do!
