BBAW: Influenced by bloggers...

I've always read a fairly wide variety of books, but since I started blogging my reminder list just keeps growing and growing. I've discovered a lot of books from other bloggers that I never would have picked up on my own. The best example of this is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

I'm sure The Hunger Games will get mentioned a lot by other bloggers today, but I took a lot of convincing to finally pick it up. While I really enjoy YA books, the futuristic aspect of The Hunger Games had me convinced I wouldn't like it. I'm glad to say I was mistaken! Now, I can't wait to snag a copy of Catching Fire.

I also ended up reading Hunger Games because of all the blogs that mentioned it. The one I'm really glad I found via blogs is Half of a Yellow Sun.

All the talk on the blogs about how great this book and it's sequel are made me go out and get both, though I haven't read them yet. I am excited to finally get a chance to read them because they have come so highly recommended. My kids have read them and loved them, and they have been talking them up too! I must try to carve out some reading time for them, they sound amazing.

You know, I actually started listening to audios and reading books with my kids after being inspired by Carrie of Books and Movies. This opened up a whole new world in our mom/kid relationship. This Hunger Game thing was just crazy. How could I not listen to this with my kids? We all loved it!

Most people I meet are very skeptical about this one. I just tried to convince my book club to read it tonight, and they were like...no. They are missing out!!

I need to read this; it seems so popular.

This is my most recent blogger recommended purchase (bought along with Catching Fire). I love when a book like this really takes hold and spreads. Last year it was The Book Thief--wonder what it will be next year?

I never read The Hunger Games and it seems like something I wouldn't pick up if I came across it. However, with the amount of people going crazy over it, I must admit I am curious and will probably try it out some time.

Melissa, I have an award for you here :) -
